TopNaija predicts the outcome for this week’s Champions League group stage fixtures.

The 2023/24 UEFA Champions League returns to our screens tonight, with the top sides in Europe set to renew hostilities for the new campaign to challenge current champions, Manchester City for the title.

Among the top 5 European clubs set to face hostilities tonight and on Wednesday night are the likes of Manchester City, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, and of course a return to Champions League action from the Premier League trio of Newcastle United, Arsenal and Manchester United.

This season has Liverpool and Chelsea exempted following a woeful 2022/23 campaign that saw Liverpool relegated from the Champions League and Chelsea out from Europe entirely.

Tuesday 19th September fixtures begin with AC Milan and Newcastle United at 5:45 pm.

The tie brings Newcastle into Europe for the first time in years, with AC Milan drawing experience from consecutive performances in the tournament following back to back appearances in recent years. The Serie A side recently suffered a 5-1 defeat to Inter Milan over the weekend and will be set for a comeback.

However, TopNaija in its predictions for the Champions League games, gives this tie to Eddie Howe’s side for a 1-2 victory away from home.

BSC Young Boys Bern vs. RB Leipzig also takes place at 17:45, which tips RB Leipzig to come out with 3 vital points from the group. We predict a 1-4 victory for the Bundesliga side against Young Boys.

Barcelona 20:00 Antwerp, sees the Catalans get a relief from facing their dreaded nemesis, Bayern Munich in the group stage.

Following a 5-0 score line in the La Liga against Real Betis, Barca will be buzzing with confidence to hit Antwerp with a 3-0 score line.

Feyenoord 20:00 Celtic, Scottish side, Celtic return to the Champions League again after crashing out last season from the group stages. The Scottish side will be eager to put their 2022/23 UCL campaign behind them to get something out from the Eredivisie side at 8 pm kick off.

However we predict a 2-2 draw for both sides.

Lazio 20:00 Atletico Madrid, brings Mauricio Sarri against football villain, Diego Simeone, who surprisingly has been playing some good attacking football contrary to his famed low block tactic.

This tie looks hard to predict on paper, with Sarri not an easy tactician to beat as he has proven in the Serie A, however Atletico Madrid has the name going for them.

We predict a 2-4 score line on the night.

Manchester City 20:00 Crvena Zvezda, is one of those ties you wouldn’t blame Crvena Zvezda if they withdraw from the clash, especially when it involves a battle at the Etihad.

This game has Manchester City written all over for it without there a need to look into it.

We predict a 5-0 thriller for Pep Guardiola’s side, and perhaps an Erling Haaland hattrick.

Paris Saint-Germain vs. Borussia Dortmund, this tie is one that is a lot more balanced than the other games.

With PSG not in excellent form currently, and Dortmund also shaky, this tie smells very much a 1-1 draw.

Shakhtar Donetsk vs. FC Porto, the Portuguese side, Porto may have seen a favorable UCL group stage tie that marches their strength.

We predict a 1-3 tie between both sides.

Wednesday 20th September returns with the teams and games fans are eager to see play out in the Champions League.

For Galatasaray vs. FC Copenhagen, we predict a 2-0 win for the Turkish side, Galatasaray against the Danish side.

With Wilfried Zaha in the mix for Galatasaray, a win might be what the Ivorian’s impact will influence.

Real Madrid vs. 1. FC Union Berlin, brings the 14 times Champions into their favorite tournament. However, we predict this game to end in a 2-2 draw.

This game will set Carlo Ancelotti back into the books and open eyes to the truth of their La Liga form this season.

Arsenal vs. PSV Eindhoven, this is surprisingly one of those ties one would expect from a Europa League knockout stage, however it is a Champions League clash for the Gunners at the Emirates.

Arsenal are sure favorites heading into the game, and rightly so would come out with a win. A 3-0 victory seems on the cards for Mikel Arteta’s North London side.

Bayern Munich vs. Manchester United, the game of the week one would say has gotten Man United fans frightened.

However, we see an upset at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, but not for Manchester United.

The 1-3 defeat may have deceived many but this tie will have the score line reversed for Manchester United however. We predict a 1-3 win for Erik ten Hag against his former side.

Benfica vs. Red Bull Salzburg looks an exciting game of a high scoring outcome. We predict a 5-3 tie with the Portuguese side, Benfica running off with all 3 points.

Braga vs. Napoli sees Victor Osimhen get into action for his Napoli side, and TopNaija predicts a 0-4 outcome versus Braga to hand Napoli all 3 points.

Real Sociedad vs. Inter Milan, following a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid over at the weekend, we predict Sociedad will come into the game looking to make fans happy at home.

This tie looks tougher than it is, hence we predict a 3-2 clash that has the La Liga side coming out with maximum points.

Sevilla vs. RC Lens, TopNaija’s predictions for this Champions League tie has Sevilla coming out with a 1-0 win.
