"The best minutes from our season" -- Ten Hag

All those quadruple chants come to an end for Liverpool now, and its all thanks to the cunningness of Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag.

Always there to ruin the party, eh?

In a thrilling FA Cup quarter-final clash on Sunday, Manchester United emerged victorious against Liverpool with a dramatic 4-3 win at Old Trafford, sealing their passage to the next round. Manager Erik ten Hag showered praise on his players for their resilience and determination throughout the match.

The game witnessed Amad Diallo’s heroic last-minute goal during extra time, marking one of the most memorable encounters in FA Cup history.

“The first 35 minutes I think was the best minutes from our season,” Ten Hag told ITV.

Despite Liverpool holding the lead on two separate occasions – first until the 87th minute of regulation time and then again in the 112th minute of extra time – Manchester United displayed remarkable resolve, pulling off two crucial equalizers and a stunning winner.

Reflecting on the match, Ten Hag expressed his admiration for his team’s performance, particularly highlighting the exceptional teamwork displayed in the initial 35 minutes of play.

However, he acknowledged the challenges posed by Liverpool’s tactical prowess, emphasizing the importance of closing the gaps between the lines to avoid being outplayed.

“We were really there, acting as a team. But then gaps in between the lines and you can’t allow this against Liverpool. Then they outplay you. And also after half-time, it continues.”

Following halftime adjustments, Manchester United took calculated risks, opting for a more aggressive approach, which paid dividends in the form of a hard-fought victory.

Ten Hag commended his players’ unwavering belief and relentless attitude, crediting their strong mentality for securing the win against formidable opposition.

“We had to change. We went into the risk, we went into one against one, and the players were wonderful – the mentality, the attitude was so great.

“They had strong belief to win this game. We went for it and we got it.”
