Sanwo-Olu wins Tinubu’s polling unit as Rhodes-Vivour loses unit to APC
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the current Governor of Lagos State and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the governorship race, has won the polling unit of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the President-elect.
This news comes as a huge win for Sanwo-Olu, who has been working tirelessly to secure victory in the forthcoming Lagos State governorship election.
The APC candidate garnered a whopping 43 votes at the polling unit, leaving his closest contender, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, with a meager five votes. The National Rescue Movement came in third place with just one vote. However, the low turnout of voters was a cause for concern as only 50 people voted out of 324 registered voters.
In contrast, Rhodes-Vivour lost his polling unit to Sanwo-Olu, with the latter securing 29 votes while the former could only muster 18 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Olajide Adeniran, also known as Jandor, polled only two votes, while one vote was counted as void at the polling unit located at Oshifila Street, Anifowoshe, Ikeja.
The APC candidate’s victory at Tinubu’s polling unit is a clear indication of his popularity among the electorate. As Sanwo-Olu himself noted, “I am glad that my principal, Asiwaju Tinubu, and his household have a resounding confidence in our candidacy. This is a further demonstration that the good people of Lagos have acknowledged the strides we have made in the last four years and are ready to entrust us with the responsibility of taking Lagos to the next level.”
Moreover, the APC also secured victory in the House of Assembly election at the polling unit, with 34 votes, while the Labour Party came in second place with 15 votes. The PDP could only manage one vote.
The forthcoming Lagos State governorship election promises to be an interesting one, with the three major parties – APC, PDP, and Labour Party – vying for the people’s mandate. However, with Sanwo-Olu’s impressive victory at Tinubu’s polling unit, it is clear that the APC candidate is a strong contender in the race.
In conclusion, the governorship election in Lagos State is a significant event that will shape the state’s political landscape for the next four years. As the electorate exercise their civic duty, it is important to vote for the candidate with a proven track record of excellence and the capacity to take Lagos State to greater heights.
