The Lagos State governorship race continues to heat up, as the Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, secured a major win at polling unit 079 in the Okota area of Lagos.

The Labour Party candidate garnered a total of 71 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) trailed behind with 25 votes, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 5 votes. The African Action Congress (AAC) secured just one vote.

Furthermore, the Labour Party also clinched victory in the House of Assembly election at the same polling unit, securing 71 votes. The APC came in second place with 26 votes, while the AAC secured one vote.

However, despite the victory, the announcement of the results was marred by a fracas that broke out after the counting and writing of the results. According to reports, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff refused to upload the results as earlier promised due to a lack of internet network on the BVAs machine.

As the Lagos State gubernatorial race heats up, it is important for all stakeholders to maintain peace and orderliness to ensure a free, fair and credible election.
