Rio Ferdinand On Chelsea Transfer Target

Croatian star Joko Gvardiol, who Chelsea is interested in, has been praised by Rio Ferdinand.

Ferdinand cited the Croatian as his favorite World Cup defender and said that he possesses “all the attributes” necessary to be a top-tier contemporary defender.

The 20-year-old was instrumental in getting his team into the World Cup’s knockout rounds.

The RB Leipzig defender was close to moving to Chelsea last summer, but the club reportedly turned down the Blues’ offer of £77 million.

Last week, the player said he was still considering moving to Stamford Bridge, and Ferdinand told the BBC:

“I have to say, he has been my favourite defender to watch in the tournament so far. Also, the aggressiveness. He is willing to get forward, that youth, that fearlessness…”
