"Real Madrid know why Haaland is 'Unhappy'" -- Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has strongly refuted speculations suggesting that star striker Erling Haaland is discontented at the club.

Guardiola’s statement comes in response to a report from Spanish newspaper El Desmarque, which claimed that Haaland had an aversion to the harsh weather in Manchester and was considering a move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish report surfaced amid growing rumors that Real Madrid is eyeing a potential transfer for the Norwegian striker during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Haaland, 23, made headlines in his debut season with Manchester City by setting a new Premier League record with 36 goals, contributing significantly to the team’s historic treble-winning campaign in the 2022-2023 season.

Despite the achievements and success, recent reports suggested that Haaland, who recently returned from a foot injury, was unhappy at Manchester City.

However, Guardiola addressed these claims ahead of City’s Premier League clash against Brentford on Monday, February 5.

In a press conference, Guardiola dismissed the notion of Haaland’s discontent, stating,

“You have to ask the media from Madrid if he is unhappy. Maybe they have more info than we have. We don’t have that feeling that he’s unhappy.”

Guardiola acknowledged Haaland’s frustration at being sidelined due to injury but emphasized the player’s happiness and contentment at the club. The manager highlighted Haaland’s pivotal role in the team and expressed confidence in the player’s decision-making regarding his future.

“He played 25 minutes, and every transition, every pass, all the players look at him. I know how important he is for us,” Guardiola remarked.
