Prison Break: One dead, 12 injured in Rivers State
One inmate was confirmed dead in attempt to escape the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre on Monday afternoon, April 11.
TopNaija.ng gathered that 12 other inmates were injured during a fight that developed into the attempted escape.
According to reports, security operatives shot outside the fence repeatedly to prevent the prisoners’ escape, resulting to bullet wounds sustained by 12 inmates.
Juliet Ofoni, who is the spokesperson of the correctional facility, confirmed this in her statement to the press.
