JUST IN: Dynamite explosion hits APP secretariat in Port Harcourt
In the early hours of Monday, a dynamite explosion struck the secretariat of the Action People’s Party (APP) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The incident, which occurred around 1 am, caused significant damage to the building, shattering windows, doors, and destroying other property.
The attack comes amid speculation that the state’s Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, may defect to the APP with his supporters, following tensions with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, over control of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

A party official, speaking anonymously, suggested the attack was politically motivated, citing the APP’s rapid growth in Rivers State.
“This is politically-motivated and there is no two ways about it. They know that the APP is a fast-growing political party in the state,” the official said.
He urged the police to investigate and apprehend those responsible for the APP Secretariat Port Harcourt explosion.
When reached for comment, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that she was unaware of the incident but promised to investigate and provide further information.
