Positive news for Liverpool, Klopp as Egypt issues response

Liverpool has received a potentially optimistic update on the extent of Mohamed Salah’s hamstring injury, sustained during Egypt’s 2-2 draw with Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Liverpool forward went down clutching his hamstring in the 44th minute of the match held in the Ivory Coast.

Initially uncertain about the severity of Salah’s injury, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp mentioned in a press conference on Friday that the club’s medical staff might consider flying to the Ivory Coast for a comprehensive assessment.

However, a new update has surfaced, suggesting that the injury may not be as serious as initially feared. Journalist Eslam Magdy took to Twitter and posted,

“The Egyptian Football Federation announces the injury of Mohamed Salah, the national team captain, with a strain in the hamstring muscle, causing him to miss two matches in the Africa Cup of Nations against Cape Verde and in the Round of 16 in the case of qualification.”

This development appears to be a positive sign for Liverpool, as Salah is now expected to miss two AFCON matches, including the Round of 16 if Egypt qualifies.

The last 16 AFCON fixtures are scheduled for January 27, providing Salah with four weeks to recover before Liverpool’s first game after the tournament against Brentford on February 17.
