Over the years, the exploits of the Igbos in the field of commerce have been observed and discussed within and outside Nigeria. However, it has not, until recently, been documented in the form of a book.

 

In the year 2016, Oluwadunsin Oluwasuji, a young Nigerian Lawyer, Entrepreneur, and Media Practitioner got inspired to take up the challenge to further research and publish a book showcasing the practices and principles that have made the Igbos excel in business, and that have helped them build thriving enterprises, even in foreign climes.

 

On the 31st of July, 2021, the book- The Wealthcode of the Igbos will be launched in Akure, Ondo State, at an elaborate event. The book features the author’s observations and excerpts from interviews with successful Igbo business owners.

The First Lady of Ondo State, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu will be the Chief Hostess of the occasion whilst notable dignitaries such as the Ezendigbo of Ondo State, Igwe Sir Gregory Iloh, the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Ondo State, Chief Barrister Innocent Chukwudum, the Onowu Ndigbo of Ondo State, Chief Sir Dr. Cyril Anyaku, High Chief Sir Dr. T.C Ume Nweke and several other dignitaries will be in attendance.

The widely acclaimed ‘The Wealthcode of the Igbos’ book

The Igbo Business Icon Awards, celebrating successful Igbo Business owners who have exemplified these principles will also hold, along with the book launch on that day.

The Wealthcode of the Igbos launch will feature an elaborate Red Carpet, manned by CSI, Nigeria’s foremost Event Experience Company, a stage play directed by Ajisafe Ayokunle, an Igbo dance presentation, Igbo delicacies, and several other side attractions that especially celebrate the culture of the Igbos.

The Wealthcode Project as a whole was created by Oluwadunsin who is of Yoruba descent. The project celebrates Nigeria’s unity in diversity, as it holds in a South-Western State, and it will have Nigerians from other tribes celebrating the Igbos for their exemplariness in the field of commerce.
