Dana air crash landing: NSIB launches investigation

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash landing of a Dana Air passenger airline at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

Wunmi Oladeji, the Director of Public Affairs for NSIB, confirmed the commencement of the investigation on Tuesday, stating that investigators were already on-site to assess the situation.

Oladeji stated, “Our investigators are currently on the site of the incident. They are investigating it. We will rely on their report to give the next update.”

According to a statement from the airline’s management, the aircraft, registered as 5N BKI, flew into Lagos from the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja. Despite carrying 83 passengers, all individuals safely disembarked, although the aircraft became lodged in a bushy area near the runway.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 am, prompting the deployment of emergency responders, including the airport’s Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Services, to the scene to address the situation and ensure the safety of all involved.
