"Nothing you can tell me can make me feel better" -- Pochettino

Football is a cruel thing, and no matter how good you are, when it is not your moment, it certainly is not your moment, and Mauricio Pochettino accepts his fate after his Chelsea team faltered to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

It is Chelsea’s second defeat to Liverpool in the final of the tournament under Jurgen Klopp’s era, with the Blues yet to be with a win against the Reds in a competitive final under the German manager.

However, for Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino, there is a lot he takes solace with following the Blues’ resilient display to hold Liverpool for 117-minutes before the Reds could carve out a goal in the 118th minute via Virgil van Dijk.

Speaking post match, the former Paris Saint-Germain boss rued the defeat, but praised his matchday squad on the day.

“I’m happy with the effort today,” the Argentine was quoted saying.

Stressing further, the ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager who also lost a final to Jurgen Klopp with Spurs in the Champions League, said of his team;

“These players are professional. They are very competitive and now we need to move forward. They need to feel the pain. Nothing you can tell me can make me feel better. Nothing”
