Peter Obi Emerges Victorious In The 2023 Elections

As the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria draws closer, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has declared that it will not be pressured to endorse the candidacy of Peter Obi-Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.

Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, is the presidential flag-bearer of the Labour Party, while Datti Baba-Ahmed, a former Senator, is the younger brother of the NEF spokesman.

Despite many Nigerian commentators expressing disappointment with the two main political parties that have governed the nation for a combined 24 years, the Labour Party candidates are seen as leaders who can perform better than the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Several groups, including the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) and Afenifere, have endorsed Obi as their preferred candidate for the February 25 presidential election. However, the NEF has chosen to remain neutral.

NEF spokesman Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed defended their decision in a tweet, stating that the group does not owe anyone their loyalty on demand, and they will not be swayed by pressure to choose what others insist they do.

With just seven days to go until the presidential election, many Nigerians are eagerly anticipating the outcome and watching closely to see which candidates gain the most support in the coming days.
