Nigerian Pilgrim Returns €1,750 Found in Makkah

In a commendable act of honesty, Muhammad Na’Allah, a pilgrim from Gumi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Nigeria, has returned €1,750 (One thousand, seven hundred and fifty Euros) found at the Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Na’Allah handed over the money to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for it to be returned to the rightful owner.

This is the second such act of integrity by Nigerian pilgrims, following Abba Limawa from Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State, who previously returned 10,500 Russian Rubles, 800 Dollars, and 690 Saudi Riyals.

Receiving the money at NAHCON’s office in Ummuljud, Makkah, the commission’s chairman, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, praised Na’Allah for his honesty. Arabi noted that Na’Allah’s actions reflect his closeness to Allah, saying, “This shows his pilgrimage has positively impacted his personal character, behavior, and attitude.”

Arabi had also commended Limawa, 52, for his similar act of integrity, highlighting how such actions positively project Nigeria’s image internationally.

Na’Allah explained that he found the money inside a waist bag while on his way to pray at the Masjid Haram (Mosque). Initially inclined to ignore the bag, he reconsidered, thinking it might belong to a fellow Nigerian pilgrim. Upon discovering foreign currency inside, he approached an official from the Zamfara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, who facilitated the return of the money to NAHCON.

These actions by Nigerian pilgrims underscore the importance of honesty and integrity, reflecting positively on their personal characters and on Nigeria as a whole.
