Food and beverage giant, Nestlé Nigeria Plc adds new nutritional brand, NIDO Milk & Soya Instant Powder Mix to its wide array of products.

After extensive research and development, Nestlé Nigeria PLC has consciously maintained a gracious name in the FMCG industry while also improving ‘the wellbeing and livelihood of individuals and families to build thriving communities while taking action to protect the planet’ since it entered the Nigerian market over 60 years ago.

The intention of the new product is to combine the double goodness of milk and soya, fortified with iron to provide consumers with an affordable, delicious and nutritious creamy milk and plant-based complement for beverages and cereals.

Nestlé Nigeria PLC which has existed for over 62 years has been part of the daily nutrition of millions of households in Nigeria by consistently using its research and development capabilities ‘to unlock the power of food to enhance the quality of everyone today and for generations to come’.

Research shows that an infant needs 100cal/kg/day, ages 1 to 3 years need 80 kcal/kg/day, 4 to 5 years needs 70kcal/kg/day, 6 to 8 years needs 60 to 65 kcal/kg/day and 9+ needs 35 to 45 kcal/kg/day.

Hence, Nestlé is consistently involved in proper research and unlearning to ensure that health benefit is priority. Further, it is important to be conscious of a balanced diet comprising carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, fibre and water as these seven nutrients on a daily basis helps to build strong bones and ensures physical and mental development of every child in the first two years of his or her life is the real essence of living.

Speaking on the new product, Ifeanyi Orabuche, the Category & Marketing Manager, Dairy said: “NIDO Milk & Soya is our first affordable fortified dairy and plant blend in the
Nigerian market.

This unique blend of filled milk and soya is a source of Iron and has other essential nutrients including Protein, Calcium, Vitamin C, and dietary fiber which supports digestion.

NIDO Milk & Soya joins our portfolio of fortified
products to help address the high rate of micronutrient deficiency, especially of Iron in the country.”

NIDO Milk & Soya Instant Powder Mix was developed by local experts in Nestlé’s
R&D Center in Abidjan and is produced locally in Nigeria using 100% locally sourced soyabeans.

It is a result of Nestlé’s progress in product innovation and renovation to meet the growing consumer demand for affordable nutrition
options that also create societal value.

Also speaking, Victoria Uwadoka, the Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability lead at Nestlé Nigeria. “At Nestlé, our decisions are guided by our purpose of unlocking the power of food to enhance quality of life for everyone today and for future generations. With this new product, we are helping to sustain a steady source of revenue to improve the livelihoods of the local farmers who supply the soyabeans used in the production of NIDO Milk & Soya,”

“This launch is part of Nestlé Nigeria’s ongoing commitment to offering
affordable, wholesome and nutritious options for consumers across the country while providing long term benefits that are good for individuals and families, good for communities and good for the planet,” she concluded.

Nestlé Nigeria PLC has not failed in relentless effort in 62 years of consistently delivering high quality nutritious food and beverages under its iconic brands: MAGGI, MILO, GOLDEN MORN, NESTLÉ PURELIFE, CERELAC, NESCAFÉ and NIDO.
