Namitira Bwala slams N500 million lawsuit on Abuja school

Namitira Bwala, a student at Lead British International School in Abuja has taken legal action against the school’s management, alleging negligence in providing a safe learning environment.

The lawsuit, filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja by Bwala’s lawyer, Marvin Omorogbe of Deji Adeyanju and Partners, seeks N500 million in general damages and a public apology published in two national newspapers.

Bwala’s claims center on the school’s alleged failure to fulfill its duty of care to protect her from physical or emotional harm and breach of privacy while under its custody and supervision. Specifically, she cites an incident of assault, torment, emotional distress, pain, and trauma suffered during her time at the school as evidence of negligent conduct on the part of the management.

In the lawsuit, Namitira Bwala seeks various declarations and orders from the court, including recognition of the school’s duty of care, acknowledgment of its failure to prevent the alleged harm, and an award of N500 million in damages for the breach of duty and negligence.
