Georginio Wijnaldum had quite the fantastic career in his early days, specifically with Newcastle and later at Liverpool where he became quite the hero that engineered success at the club.
For a Reds fan remembering the Dutchman, they cast mind to the Liverpool hero for his heroics against Barcelona in the 4-0 victory at Anfield, especially with his 2 quick fire goals upon substitution.
Who can forget his celebration upon leveling the scores on aggregate on the night? Or his celebration at full time with James Milner?
Gini Wijnaldum as he is popularly called was well loved by the Anfield fans even though upon him leaving he no longer thought that nor saw himself as a Liverpool hero.
But despite all his achievements at both Newcastle and Liverpool, Wijnaldum’s career is quite the opposite now with French club, Paris Saint-Germain.
The midfielder has seen his stocks diminish at the club as he became something of a squad player at the club as against what he signed up for.
And now, Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma has come into the picture to salvage his career.
According to reports, the Italian club is set to sign the PSG player on a loan deal for the club ahead of the coming season.
It is understood that former Tottenham boss is very keen on the signing the minute PSG listed him as surplus to requirements and as per reports, Wijnaldum has now arrived in Rome to finalize the move.
The report comes courtesy of football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano who wrote on his social media handle:
“Gini Wijnaldum is finally set to sign with AS Roma! Agreement reached as green light just arrived from Paris Saint-Germain on loan move. Time for documents, here we go soon.
“PSG are prepared to close on Renato Sanches after Wijnaldum departure.”
