Mechanic killed in cold blood by alleged cultists while sitting inside his car with a lady in Rivers (Photos)
An automotive mechanic named John Okon was murdered on the Abakiliki/Nanka axis of Mile 1 in Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He was assassinated by shooters suspected of being cultists about 8:55 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, while talking with a woman in his vehicle.
According to a source who requested anonymity, the mechanic and his female companion were still in the car when three shooters came, shot him in the head, and left.
According to the informant, before the shooters went, one of them returned to the scene to see whether the mechanic was dead, while Okon lay in the vehicle in a pool of his own blood.
“So when that happened there was confusion and serious panic in the area. People living there and those passing took to their heels,” the source said
The source said immediately he was shot, the lady scampered for safety.
The technician was in a red Golf 3 sedan at Abakiliki near Nanka at about 9 p.m., according to Prince Amatari, Commander of a local vigilante group, Diobu Security Service, who verified the occurrence.
“Information available to us shows that John Okon was a mechanic whose workshop is at Illabuchi, while he resides at Iwofe. He was with a lady in the car when he was shot. And the place where he was shot has been his usual spot with the lady. The lady ran after he was shot,” he stated.
