A 38-year-old man, Mathew Ifeanyi, killed his biological father over N70,000 he had in his care. The So-Safe Corps in Ogun State arrested him after he hacked his father to death with a machete.

The incident occurred on August 29, at 11 Ibikunle Street, Diamond Estate, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area. Superintendent Alabi Gafar, the Divisional Officer of the Corps, received information about the attack.

The patrol team was deployed to rescue Anthony Nnadike, 100 years old, and arrest the son.

“Sadly, on getting to the scene, the victim had been rushed down to the general hospital due to injuries sustained and was in a critical condition, until he was later confirmed dead by the doctor.”

The suspect, who resisted arrest, was apprehended and interrogated. He claimed his father couldn’t refund N70,000 he owed since July 22nd, 2022.

He resigned from his previous job to start his private business and couldn’t provide the money. The suspect was transferred to Sango Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
