Luis Figo reveals who wins 2023 Champions League
Real Madrid legend, Luis Figo, has revealed his favourites to win this 2023 season’s UEFA Champions League trophy, snubbing his former club, Real Madrid. Figo named Manchester City and Bayern Munich as the two favourites that can win the coveted trophy.
The Portuguese retired footballer made the comments at the opening ceremony of the Vicente del Bosque Academy in Calvia, Mallorca. He said, “In the Champions League, you always have to count on Real Madrid, but my favourite is between Manchester City and Bayern Munich.”
This season’s Champions League competition has reached the quarter-final stages, with Real Madrid facing Chelsea and Bayern Munich taking on Manchester City in the last eight. Real Madrid has a rich history in the Champions League, having won the trophy a record 14 times, but they will have to overcome the challenge of Chelsea to progress to the semi-finals.
Manchester City is looking to win their first Champions League title in their history. The club has made it to the quarter-finals for the fourth successive season under manager Pep Guardiola, and they will be hoping to go all the way this time around.
Bayern Munich, who were previous Champions League holders, still remain the team to beat this season. The German club has been in impressive form in Europe this season, and they will be looking to retain the trophy they won under the guidance of manager Hansi Flick.
The 2023 Champions League quarter-finals will take place next month, with the first leg matches scheduled for April 6 and 7, and the second leg matches taking place on April 13 and 14.
