Liverpool release statement on the Super League

Liverpool have officially confirmed their stance on the European Super League amidst rising worries in the wake of the club’s silence on the topic.

Following the verdict given by the European Justice Court allowing for the existence of the European Super League, a host of premier league clubs and around Europe have swiftly turned on the association and rejected an involvement with the group.

Liverpool becomes the latest club to release a statement pertaining to the European controversy that tore social media on Thursday.

In their released statement, the club said;

Liverpool release statement on the Super League

“Yesterday’s ruling by the European Court of Justice does not change Liverpool FC’s previous stance on a proposed European Super League. Our involvement has been discontinued.

“We will continue to work with fellow clubs through the ECA and participate in UEFA competitions.”

With a host of clubs from Germany, England, France and a few in the La Liga turning on the European Super League, this leaves only Real Madrid and Barcelona as its current founders and front runners as the association struggles to find its allies.

Prior to the current stance, Liverpool together with its bitter rivals, Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur had agreed to join the union, resulting in massive backlash in the 2020/21 season when it was first announced.

However, the circumstances seem to have changed as the Super League’s former allies now turn on it in a massive sweep.
