Liverpool Police sanction Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo has been on the headlines quite a lot this summer, despite the Portuguese preferring not to be.
But before this moment, there was a time the 5 rime Ballon D’or winner’s name was on the headlines for the negative reasons, which happened to be in a game against Everton on April 9.
The game saw Manchester United suffer a defeat to the Liverpool based team in a 1-0 score line at Goodison Park.
However, it was what transpired after the game that captured headlines going forward as the Portuguese was reported to have smashed the phone of an autistic boy while leaving the Everton ground.
And now, the Liverpool police have reacted to the incident by giving out a caution to the Portuguese in a statement they released.
The autistic boy who is identified as Jacob Harding allegedly had his hand hit by the player while leaving the pitch after his team suffered defeat.
Though Cristiano Ronaldo apologized to the 14 year old and promised repair of damages with an offer for a game at Old Trafford, the player had a sit with the police where in he was cautioned on the alleged assault and criminal damage.
The Merseyside Police on Wednesday in their statement, said:
“We can confirm that a 37-year-old man voluntarily attended and was interviewed under caution in relation to an allegation of assault and criminal damage. The allegation relates to an incident following the Everton v Manchester United football match at Goodison Park on Saturday 9 April.
“The matter has been dealt with by way of conditional caution. The matter has now concluded.”
The 37-year-old has agreed to pay compensation to Harding.
