Liverpool on the cards for Leverkusen star
The transfer rumor mill ignites again ahead of the Winter transfer window in January, with Merseyside club, Liverpool linked with a Bayer Leverkusen star as they hope to add reinforcements for the remainder of the season.
The move for the Leverkusen Centre Back, Piero Hincapie, as confirmed by the player’s agent, Manuel Sierra.
Ironically, Manuel Sierra is also an agent of a former Liverpool target, Moises Caicedo who is well known to have taken the summer storm prior to his eventual move to Chelsea.
Like Caicedo, Piero Hincapie hails from Ecuador, and has grown to be quite the pivotal figure for former Liverpool midfielder, Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side.
Renowned for his versatility, Piero Hincapie can effectively operate as a central defender or left-back, with his exceptional speed and distribution skills setting him apart.
This undoubtedly creates competition for Virgil van Dijk and Reds’ Left-Back, Andrew Robertson.
Despite grappling with injuries this season, the 21-year-old featured in all but four Bundesliga matches in the previous campaign, with a trio of suspensions accounting for his absences.
The Ecuadorian accumulated a high number of disciplinary cards in the form of 13 yellow and three red cards in the Bundesliga last season, a worrying side for Liverpool.
Manuel Sierra, has hinted at the prospect of the Ecuadorian talent donning Liverpool’s jersey come January. However, this could be a ploy to provoke a move from Bayer Leverkusen and generate interest in the player.
