Didi Hamann in his Liverpool days

Though Liverpool midfield maestro has received a lot of praise this season for his performances in games, and well loved by the kop fans, a Liverpool Ex-player isn’t a big fan of him.

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has been someone who never fails to air his opinion and in a latest analysis with Sky Sports Germany, he launched an attack on the current Reds stars, labeling Alcantara as nothing more than ‘one of the most overrated players in European football.’

The former Germany international believes the Reds would need to reorganize its midfield after missing out on the Premier League and Champions League this season by the slimmest of margins.

In what everyone has seen so far, Hamann believes there is a lack of creativity from Liverpool’s midfielders, whichever three Jurgen Klopp chooses to field.

He believed Thiago, offers little in games when the Reds are not controlling, while he gave Naby Keita his own fair share of criticism while giving Jordan Henderson little praise as been functional.

‘In my opinion, the Reds need to modernize the team a bit, especially in midfield,’ Hamann told Sky Sport Germany. I don’t understand the hype about Thiago. For me he is one of the most overrated players in European football.

‘When things are going well and you have a lot of possession he’s a good player, but when push comes to shove you don’t see him. If you need someone who sets accents, then he doesn’t do it.” he defended.
