Jordan Henderson will Follow Steven Gerrard’s path
Back when Liverpool’s former Captain, Steven Gerrard handed over the captain armband to Jordan Henderson, it felt very much like the sacrilege for many fans and rivals of Liverpool.
Flash forward to present day, the Sunderland born Midfielder has just about carried the Liverpool team and in some way followed Steven Gerrard’s trajectory as a player.
Henderson has won a lot of trophies, even more than the former Liverpool no. 8, including a Champions League; which was agonizingly close to being doubled.
Then there is the elusive Premier League medal Gerrard sadly never bragged about winning.
It isn’t much of a comparison between the two Captains because man for man abilities and skills, the former Captain somewhat dwarves Henderson’s capabilities.
But when it comes to their career trajectory, Henderson may just be in line to follow the scouser, and this suggestion comes from former Tottenham striker, Darren Bent.
Darren Bent believes should Henderson hang up his boots upon retirement, he is one of the players in the Liverpool team to go into football management just like Stevie G.
So far, Henderson has made 449 appearances for the club, leading them out to winning the Premier League, the Champions League and just recently the domestic doubles.
Just like Stevie G, he is or can be considered a Liverpool legend to the Kop faithful.
Jordan Henderson has spent 11 years with the Merseyside Reds with no signs of his career ever slowly down just yet as he has seen game time at every opportunity.
For Darren Bent, he believes the 32 year old won’t step away from football like many do when they hang up their boots in a conversation with talkSport.
“100 per cent. I can’t see him retiring, calling it a day and just playing golf. He will want to do something and he could be a manager.”
If that turns out the case, he would be following the footsteps of Stevie G, and who knows, the twist might end up seeing Jordan Henderson at that point being the manager of Aston Villa and Steven Gerrard on the Anfield touchline.
The tales would be one of irony at that point, but time sure will tell.
