James Milner agrees personal terms with Brighton

Liverpool set to lose one of their own to Brighton as James Milner agrees terms with the Seagulls

After eight years of service, veteran midfielder James Milner is set to leave Liverpool and join Brighton at the end of the season. The Englishman has reportedly accepted all the details of the Seagulls’ bid, and a contract that will be valid until June 2024 is set to be signed soon.

Milner has been an integral part of Liverpool’s squad since he joined the club in 2015, playing a key role in their Premier League and Champions League triumphs. However, with his contract set to expire in the summer, the 35-year-old has decided to move on to a new challenge.

Brighton, who seem to be making a play for Europe next season, are set to have a busy period in the transfer market, and Milner is set to be their latest signing.

The Seagulls recently secured the services of Brazilian star João Pedro on a £30m deal from Watford, and Milner is set to follow him to the south coast.

Milner’s departure will be a significant loss for Liverpool, who will also see Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leave as free agents in June. The Reds will have to find replacements for the trio, who have all played important roles in the club’s recent success.

It remains to be seen what role Milner will play at Brighton, but his experience and leadership qualities will be invaluable to Roberto De Zerbi’s side. The Seagulls will be hoping that the veteran midfielder can help them improve on their league position next season.

For Liverpool, it is the end of an era, with Milner having been a key figure in the club’s recent success.

The Reds will now have to look to the future and find new players to help them continue their dominance in English and European football.
