Israel-Palestine: The Premier League releases statement

The English Premier League, one of Europe’s leading domestic football leagues, has reacted to the ongoing crisis in the Middle-East between neighboring nations, Israel and Palestine.

In a post shared on X, the football body expressed sadness at the escalating crisis between Israel and Palestine over the Gaza Strip.

The Premier League in their Twitter statement, condemned the horrors the acts of violence has caused on civilian population, sympathizing with victims and communities impacted.

Also sharing in their statement, the Premier League promises to make donations to the British Red Cross in support of those affected by the war in the region.

On return from the international break, the league has promised that before the commencement of fixtures on the 21st to 23rd of October, managers, players and match day officials will wear black armbands in solidarity with the Middle East region and those affected by the war.

The Premier League is shocked and saddened by the escalating crisis in Israel and Gaza, and strongly condemns the horrific and brutal acts of violence against innocent civilians.

We hope for peace, and our heartfelt sympathies are with the victims, their families and the communities impacted.

As a mark of respect for all those affected, Premier League players, managers and match officials will wear black armbands and observe a moment’s silence at the fixtures taking place from Saturday 21 to Monday 23 October.

The League will also make a donation to the British Red Cross to support the aid efforts helping those in urgent need.
