Nigerian actor Joseph Benjamin has opened up about his unexpected foray into the taxi business while facing adversity in the United States.

The 46-year-old movie star shared his challenging journey on a recent episode of comedian Teju Babyface’s podcast.

Benjamin recounted that he decided to relocate from Nigeria to the U.S. based on promises of lucrative movie opportunities.

However, upon arriving in America, he encountered a disheartening turn of events when the person who had assured him of roles in the industry failed to deliver on those commitments.

The actor disclosed that he arrived in the U.S. with high expectations and was initially provided a comfortable living arrangement.

Just days later, the individual who had pledged to secure him film deals informed him that the financiers had backed out due to unforeseen complications.

Consequently, Joseph Benjamin found himself in a dilemma as he was asked to cover the substantial monthly rent for his accommodation, an amount equivalent to a year’s rent back in Nigeria.

With limited options, Joseph Benjamin detailed how he had to think on his feet to navigate through an unfamiliar territory.

According to him, the abrupt shift in his life compelled him to reevaluate his financial practices, admitting to a lack of disciplined savings habits despite his earnings in Nigeria.

Benjamin had sold his possessions, including vehicles, to foster his move to the States.
