"I reckon they could do it" — Paul Scholes after United defeat

Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford was a hard nut to chew for Manchester United fans and for Paul Scholes, but as much as it would have hurt Scholes to say it; it could get worse this season if the defeat gives Liverpool the confidence to potentially winning the premier league.

In a bold prediction that could shake up the Premier League title race, the Manchester United legend identified Liverpool as the team most likely to dethrone Manchester City this season.

Paul Scholes, who has never shied away from voicing his opinions, made the claim after witnessing Liverpool’s emphatic 3-0 demolition of his former club at Old Trafford. The result not only highlighted Liverpool’s early-season form but also sent a strong message to their title rivals.

Scholes, speaking on Premier League Productions, was full of praise for Jurgen Klopp’s side, emphasizing their potential to challenge City’s dominance.

“There’s a real dominance by the Liverpool squad,” Scholes said, reflecting on their performance. “They could really challenge for that (Premier League) title this year, even (after) three games in.”

Initially, Paul Scholes believed that Arsenal, who narrowly missed out on the title last season, would be the primary challengers to City.

However, after watching the first few games of the season, he’s had a change of heart.

“Before a ball was kicked, I thought Arsenal might be there to give City a real go, possibly go on to win it. But after watching the first three games, I think Liverpool could go past Arsenal,” he added.

Scholes’ comments are particularly intriguing as they come after a match where Liverpool showcased their firepower, with Luis Diaz netting twice in the first half and Mohamed Salah adding a third after the break. The fluidity and precision of Liverpool’s attack, combined with their solid defensive display, seemed to impress Scholes enough to tip them as potential title winners.
