“Arsenal no longer clear favorites against City” — Michael Owen
Former Real Madrid and Liverpool striker, Michael Owen has tipped the weighing scale to favor Liverpool over Arsenal as the formidable challengers versus Manchester City for the premier league title.
Though still early days to make such assertions, but Owen’s comments come after witnessing Liverpool’s dominant 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, a performance that has reignited talks of Liverpool’s title credentials.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen highlighted how Liverpool, under the guidance of new manager Arne Slot, have swiftly dispelled any pre-season doubts.

“If you ask Pep Guardiola who his biggest danger was, it would be a toss-up between Arsenal and Liverpool,” Owen remarked.
While many, including Guardiola, might have initially seen Arsenal as City’s main rival, Owen now believes Liverpool have emerged as a serious contender after just three games.
Owen pointed out that Liverpool’s decision to retain their core squad despite managerial changes has paid off handsomely.
“There were questions about Liverpool, but after three games you think, ‘wow,’ it is going to take a special team to stop them. They have just swatted United aside,” Owen added, underscoring the Reds’ newfound momentum.
Owen’s assessment signals a potential shift in the power dynamics of the Premier League, suggesting that Arsenal may no longer be the clear-cut favorites to challenge City.
