“I hope Atlético won’t create any issue for us" -- Barcelona boss

Barcelona President, Joan Laporta is banking on the availability of João Cancelo and João Félix next season at the club.

The duo, who were loaned from Manchester City and Atletico Madrid respectively, have impressed during their time at Barcelona to earn a chance to remain at the club for a further season.

However, formalities of remaining with the Catalans could prove problematic according to the president who shared the latest updates on their future.

In an update provided to MD (Mundo Deportivo), Joan Laporta stated,

“I think both João Cancelo and João Félix will continue at Barça next season. I hope Atlético won’t create any issue. I don’t think Man City will put any limit to that. For sure it will be an extension of loans with a fixed price.”

The news comes as a relief to Barcelona supporters who have witnessed the impact both Cancelo and Félix have made on the team since their arrival.

With Laporta’s confirmation, it appears that negotiations are underway to secure the players on extended loan deals with a predetermined fee. However, it remains to see if Barcelona will get a humble negotiation from their parent clubs ahead of next season.
