Hollywood Loses Popular Actor, Reg Cathey At 59

Award winning Hollywood actor, Reg E. Cathey, has died at the age of 59.

Reg E Cathey, who featured in the US version of “House of Cards” and in “The Wire”, died after a long battle with cancer of the lung.

His death was announced by David Simon, the creator of ‘The Wire’

“Not only a fine, masterful actor – but simply one of the most delightful human beings with whom I ever shared some long days on set.

“On wit alone, he could double any man over and leave him thinking. Reg, your memory is a great blessing.”” Simon tweeted.

He won an Emmy award in 2015 for his House of Cards role as Freddy Hayes. He collaborated with Simon on the Emmy award-winning miniseries The Corner, and had roles in TV series including Law & Order, 30 Rock and in movies including Fantastic Four and Hands of Stone.

Some Hollywood celebrities stormed social media to pay tributes to him.

@Miles Teller, who appeared with the US actor in Fantastic Four, wrote: “Just read that Reg E Cathey has passed away. Reg was an incredibly kind and wonderful person with a vibrant love for the arts.

“He would bring his saxophone to set and serenade everyone at base camp during breaks. Rest In Peace my friend.”
