Governor Sanwo-Olu Honors LASU Student with N10 Million for 5.0 CGPA
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has rewarded Ojo Aminat Yusuf, a law student at Lagos State University (LASU), with a cash prize of N10 million for achieving a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0.
The commendable feat was acknowledged during the institution’s 26th convocation event held in the Ojo-Iyana Iba neighborhood of Lagos State.
Yusuf’s outstanding academic performance not only earned her the prestigious distinction of a 5.0 CGPA but also broke a 40-year-old record at LASU.
In recognition of her exceptional achievement, Governor Sanwo-Olu personally donated N5 million, while the Lagos State government matched his contribution with an additional N5 million.
The remarkable accomplishment of the young student did not go unnoticed by the Oniba of the Iba Kingdom in Lagos, Oba Sulaimon Adeshina Raji, who generously awarded her N2 million.
In addition, the monarch pledged to fully sponsor Yusuf’s legal education.
Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, had previously announced that Yusuf would receive a financial prize of N500,000.
This gesture further underscores the institution’s recognition of her exceptional academic performance.
During the convocation ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Olatunji-Bello also highlighted the overall achievements of the university, revealing that a total of 10,183 students graduated, with 282 of them earning First-Class honors in their respective fields.
