Gernot Rohr On Senegal Without Sadio Mane
German coach, Gernot Rohr has seen his name gain a lot of mention lately, specifically by Super Eagles fan who recall his managerial stint with the Nigerian national team.
However, unlike Nigerian supporters and the Super Eagles, he believes the Senegal national team wouldn’t miss star man, Sadio Mane at the Qatar world cup contrary to what the world thinks.
Gernot Rohr, who served as former coach of Burkina Faso and Nigeria, believes Senegal will advance from Group A of the 2022 World Cup.
The Netherlands, Qatar, the host country, and other nations are represented in Group A.
Ecuador overcame Qatar 2-0 in the first game on Sunday to maintain their chances of moving on to the next round.
Sadio Mane, Senegal’s talisman, is out of the tournament due to injury and will not play in today’s match against The Netherlands.
Kalidou Koulibaly, a defender for Chelsea, would likely be largely relied upon going forward to serve as the team’s captain, according to Rohr.
“In Sadio Mane, they have a star who can make the difference on his own and in Kalidou Koulibaly, a very strong, athletic defender at the back,” he told Wettbasis.
“They have had the same coach in Aliou Cisse for over six years. You have several tactical options.”
