Gary Neville Tears into Gareth Southgate over England’s Lineup
Gareth Southgate is one man Gary Neville won’t be sitting with to have a dinner aside Cristiano Ronaldo as he comes in hard for the England boss over his lineup decision versus the United States of America in the Friday fixture of group play offs.
Southgate’s lineup saw Phil Foden benched for the full 90 minutes of the fixture alongside Liverpool right-back, Trent Alexander Arnold, which of course drew a lot of nerves from the Englishman after the goalless draw played out.
Former Manchester United star Gary Neville blasted England manager Gareth Southgate for ignoring Phil Foden of Manchester City during their Friday match-up with the United States.
Gary Neville is adamant that Gareth Southgate Foden, the ‘best player’ for England at the World Cup, should have started.
Phil Foden of Manchester City was not deployed as a substitute in the Three Lions’ scoreless draw with the United States.
Neville was perplexed by the 22-year-insufficient old’s playing time as England put up a lackluster effort at the Al Bayt Stadium.
Gary Neville bemoaned Foden‘s absence and proclaimed the Manchester City forward to be the Three Lions team’s “greatest player” and “best talent.”
He told ITV Sport:
“I know he’s not playing, but for Phil Foden not to start for England, it’s a real shame.
“He’s a massive talent. I think he’s our best player and our best talent by a mile in this country. He should be starting in that team really.”
