27 Rivers Lawmakers Dump PDP

Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed the migration of 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to the party.

TopNaija gathered that on Monday, during a plenary session, the lawmakers who are known of showing their loyalty to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The lawmakers defended their actions, claiming that the split within the PDP in the state was the catalyst for their decision to defect to the APC.

Speaking on behalf of his principal, in an interview with The Punch, the media adviser to the APC Chairman, Edwin Olofu, praised the legislators’ defection as a positive development.

Olofu indicated that the defection was a result of his principal’s revolution and changes to the party.

He said: “As a political party, we are always open to receiving more members. It is obvious people have been taking note of the good thing the President and the APC national chairman have been doing since they came into office.

APC Speaks On Wike Been Responsible For 27 PDP Lawmakers’ Defection

The Rivers State APC caretaker committee has rejected any link between Wike and the recent defection of 27 state legislators.

Previously, 27 of the state’s 32 legislators shifted from the PDP to the APC, signaling a substantial shift in the state’s political environment.

Following the reception of the defectors, party authorities, notably Secretary Eric Nwibani, confirmed that Wike’s participation is false.
