Ganduje: Court rules Kano governor's inquiry unethical

The Federal High Court has declared the establishment of two judicial commissions of inquiry by Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to investigate former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje as a significant breach of ethics and misuse of authority.

Justice Simon Amobeda of the Federal High Court ordered Justice Faruk Adamu and Justice Zuwaira Yusuf, judges of the Kano State High Court, to resign within 48 hours from their positions as chairmen of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry on Misappropriated Public Properties and Assets and the Commission on Political Violence and Missing Persons, respectively.

Delivering the judgment on Thursday in a suit filed by former Governor Ganduje, Justice Amobeda also directed the National Judicial Council (NJC) to halt the payment of any remuneration, allowances, and benefits to the two judges from the consolidated revenue fund if they fail to comply with the order.

The NJC, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Attorney General of Kano State, Justice Faruk Adamu, and Justice Zuwaira Yusuf are named as defendants in the case.
