The full-scale of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s trial, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on terrorism charges is set to commence today at the Federal High Court in Abuja, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
The federal government has brought terrorism charges against Kanu, with the prosecution team expected to be led by the distinguished legal luminary Solomon Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN.
Nnamdi Kanu’s trial defense will be managed by Aloy Ejimakor, accompanied by other prominent lawyers.
Justice Binta Fatimat Nyako is scheduled to preside over the trial, which will begin at noon.
In preparation for the high-profile case, operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) have secured the court premises and surrounding roads to ensure law and order.
As a security measure, all lawyers and litigants entering the court premises are being thoroughly searched to prevent the introduction of dangerous materials.
Nnamdi Kanu is expected to arrive in the courtroom by noon, escorted by heavy security.
