Fuel crisis hits Abeokuta: residents struggle amid shortage

Published

on

The fuel crisis gripping Nigeria has reached a critical point in Abeokuta, Ogun State, leaving residents grappling with dwindling petrol supplies.

Investigations reveal that suppliers are struggling to obtain petrol, with numerous empty tankers queued up for loading.

However, the severe shortage of fuel means there’s little hope of replenishing stocks.

Commuters in Abeokuta are bearing the brunt of the crisis as transport fares soar for both short and long-distance journeys.

Currently, a few filling stations in the city are still able to provide fuel, albeit at a higher price of N850 per litre, while NNPC stations maintain the standard price.

In response to the escalating situation, authorities, including officials from the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), are mobilizing to enforce compliance with the official pump price of petrol by independent marketers in the state capital, beginning Monday.

As the fuel crisis continues to unfold in Abeokuta, stay tuned for further updates on the evolving situation.
