The media network, Fox news is set  to pay Dominion $787.5 million to settle the defamation lawsuit brought against them.

The case had began when  Fox’s coverage of the 2020 US election, which Dominion claimed had been defamatory and damaging to the company’s reputation.

The lawsuit, which was filed in March of 2021, alleged that Fox had knowingly spread false information about Dominion and its involvement in the election.

Fox has not issued an apology or admitted wrongdoing as part of the settlement, and the company has made it clear that it stands by its reporting on the election.

Dominion, meanwhile, can point to the substantial settlement as proof that the company was the victim of defamatory reporting.

The settlement also means that Fox can now turn its attention to a similar lawsuit filed by Smartmatic, another election technology firm involved in the 2020 US election.

While the outcome of this case remains uncertain, the settlement with Dominion may set a precedent for how Fox approaches the case.

Overall, the settlement brings an end to a long-running legal battle between Fox and Dominion, which had become a focal point for those concerned about the spread of misinformation and the role of the media in US politics.

While the settlement may not provide closure for all involved, it does offer a resolution to a contentious issue that has been hanging over the media landscape for months.
