Fire outbreak causes damages on facilities at Cross RIver College of Education

A fire broke out at SteadyFlow College of Education in Akparabong, Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The terrible situation happened on Monday evening and according to an eyewitness, Ada Agbor, the fire began when a pedestrian accidentally tossed a cigarette filter in a shrub near the school’s perimeter fence.

The fire damaged lecture halls, restrooms, and offices.

However, the founder of the institution, Mr Jones Tangban, a former National Assembly member for the Boki/Ikom federal constituency, blamed the fire event on uncontrolled bush burning.

He requested that the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the Cross River State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, come to the school’s aid.

Tangban praised God that no lives had been lost.

“SteadyFlow College of Education Academic complex has been engulfed by wild fire today. So much has been destroyed.

“We need state and federal government agencies to come to our aid because resumption is affected by the destruction of facilities at the college,” he said.
