Fire guts Ibrahim Shekarau's home in Kano

Former governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau’s country home in Mundubawa was reportedly engulfed by flames.

According to reports, the inferno ravaged one of the sitting rooms belonging to the former Minister of Education’s wife, Halima Shekarau. While initial suspicions point to the kitchen as the origin of the fire, the exact cause remains undetermined.

Kano State Fire Service officials battled to extinguish the blaze, which reportedly began in the inner kitchen. A source close to the family expressed gratitude that the fire was contained to one of Shekarau’s sitting rooms and praised the swift response of the Fire Service.

Confirming the incident, a spokesperson for the State Fire Service stated they were still on-site, unable to provide further details as efforts continued to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas of the property.

Addressing the disaster of the inferno, an eyewitness account was quoted saying;

“We thank God the fire only affected one of Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau’s sitting roomm and already the Fire Service officials are working to quench it.”
