The Federal Government has announced the designation of Wednesday, May 1, as a public holiday to mark the 2024 Workers’ Day Celebration.

This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government, as conveyed in a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Aishetu Ndayako.

The Minister emphasized the importance of excellence, efficiency, and equity in labour, underscoring the administration’s commitment, led by President Bola Tinubu, to foster innovation, productivity, and inclusivity in workplaces across the nation.

With a theme centred on ensuring safety and health at work amid a changing climate, Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed the government’s dedication to prioritizing citizens’ safety and well-being.

He urged proactive measures to mitigate the effects of climate change and emphasized the importance of sustainable practices.

Additionally, the Minister acknowledged workers’ contributions and highlighted the administration’s commitment to building a nation guided by integrity, diligence, and compassion.

He encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in supporting the government’s Renewed “Hope Agenda” and extended warm wishes to workers for a joyous celebration.
