The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has initiated legal proceedings against Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, over allegations of Naira abuse during a social gathering.

Sources within the EFCC reveal that Cubana Chief Priest faces charges related to the improper handling of Naira notes, a violation of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

The charges were formally filed on April 4 by EFCC prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) and a team of legal representatives.

Scheduled to appear before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday, April 17th, Cubana Chief Priest is accused of three counts of Naira tampering.

The first count involves an incident on February 13th, 2024, at Eko Hotel in Lagos, followed by similar occurrences in 2020 and January 2024, also in Lagos.

This legal action underscores the EFCC’s commitment to combating the abuse of the Nigerian currency.

Cubana Chief Priest’s case comes in the wake of heightened scrutiny on individuals engaging in practices that undermine the integrity of the Naira.

As the legal proceedings unfold, stakeholders are closely monitoring the case’s implications for public figures and the broader issue of Naira abuse.

The EFCC’s pursuit of accountability in this matter signals a firm stance against financial misconduct and underscores the importance of upholding the integrity of the nation’s currency.
