Dejan Lovren blasts transfer sites linking Salah with a Liverpool exit

Former Liverpool defender and Croatia international, Dejan Lovren has hit out at transfer sites linking Liverpool super star with an exit from the club to the Saudi Pro League.

In a now deleted tweet, the former Liverpool hero reacted to an account labeled as ‘Transfer News Live’ that had reported that Karim Benzema played a part in convincing Mohamed Salah to shift allegiances away from Liverpool to Saudi club, Al-Ittihad.

Dejan Lovren who is friends with Mohamed Salah, was forced into hitting at the account, calling the site out for purported fake news.

In the deleted tweet, Lovren responded;

“So many fake news in this world, it’s getting ridiculous. I should start a new page which is called ‘Here we go, but honestly, trust me'”

In an earlier tweet from the same account, Dejan Lovren also hit at the page over claims that Salah wants to leave Liverpool over a promise that he would earn more money than Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League.

The former Southampton star replied with a GIF featuring the words; ‘Stop Lying’.

Mohamed Salah has since seen himself linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with the rumors about an interest from Saudi clubs proven to be concrete.

However, the player’s agent, Ramy Abbas has consistently denied any interest in leaving Liverpool, with Abbas just 2 weeks back stating;

“If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer.

“Mohamed remains committed to LFC.”

The rumors however are yet to stop. Just recently, a source alleged to be close to Salah stated the Egyptian was frustrated with Jurgen Klopp for snubbing him for the club’s captaincy.

Salah’s current deal, which saw him become the highest-paid player in Liverpool history when he signed last summer, expires in July 2025, a year from now.
