Government declares Public Holiday for Easter

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to halt the enforcement of the 0.5 per cent cybersecurity levy, as announced by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.

The decision came after discussions within the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Idris revealed this development while addressing State House correspondents on Tuesday.

Tinubu’s order signifies a pause in the implementation of the levy, reflecting the government’s responsiveness to concerns raised by various stakeholders.

The cybersecurity levy, initially proposed by the CBN, had sparked debates and criticism from different quarters.

However, with Tinubu’s directive, further deliberations are expected to refine the policy and address any underlying issues before its implementation.
