Cultists kill two on Eid el-Fitr day in Kwara

Tragedy struck on Eid el-Fitr day in Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State, as two persons suspected to be cultists were killed by an unidentified gang that had reportedly trailed them from Lagos.

The incident occurred at Akata Orisunbare Aga area of Ganmo, about 3.1 kilometers from Ilorin, and has left the community in shock.

According to the spokesman of the Kwara State Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the incident, the victims were trailed from Lagos, and investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder.

Eyewitnesses revealed that one of the victims, identified as Thompson, had come from Lagos and was staying with his host, Abdulwaheed, who worked as a bricklayer.

The attack reportedly took place around 5 am, while people were returning home from the Ramadan Laylat al-Qadr.

The assailants arrived at the house in two Keke NAPEP (tricycles) and unleashed violence on the victims.

Abdulwaheed, in an attempt to defend himself, tried to bring out his gun but was shot and macheted to death by the attackers, who allegedly severed his head.

The corpses of the two victims were later evacuated from the scene of the crime, where six expended bullets were recovered by the police at about 9 am.

In response to the incident, security operatives raided a suspected hot spot in the area known as Blue Bob, which is believed to be an abode of cultists.
