Crisis ensue as policemen gets kidnapped by Gunmen in broad daylight

Confusion ensues as unknown gunmen have kidnapped some men of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State in broad daylight.

TopNaija understands that although the number of police officers that were carried away generated a bit of controversy, a Police officer confirmed with The Punch that three officers were kidnapped by the assailants.

It was said that the kidnap happened on Thursday, September 22 at Wasinmi, in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state at about 2:30 pm.

According to the preliminary result the kidnapped officials had just arrived in Ogun State from Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, for an investigation.

They were said to have been duly booked at the police division in Wasinmi before they left for their place of primary assignment the following day.

However, the officers led by Inspector Oladipo Olayemi were kidnapped on the road by their abductors.

The source further said the commercial driver who conveyed the cops was lucky to have escaped the scene by a whisker from the kidnappers.

The development has raised eyebrows at the force command as the Divisional Police Officer in Ewekoro had led his men in search of the missing policemen.

Confirming the kidnap, the PRO for the State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi assured that the victims would be rescued as the police are on the kidnappers’ trail.

“We are on the trail of the kidnappers. Do you think we are going to keep quiet? We will get them and rescue the victims unhurt,” he said.

He added that men of the anti-kidnapping unit are on the kidnappers’ trail.
