COVID-19 global death exceeds 100,000 with over 1.6million confirmed cases

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed seventeen new cases of of cononavirus in Nigeria, TopNaija.ng reports.

NCDC made the announcement Friday night via its Twitter handle. This means there are 305 confirmed cases of the virus in the country.

“Seventeen new cases of COVID-19 have been reported as follows:

8 in Lagos, 3 in Katsina, 2 in FCT, 1 in Niger 1 in Kaduna, 1 in Anambra, 1 in Ondo

“As at 09:30 pm 10th April, there are 305 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 58 have been discharged with 7 deaths.”

Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 100,000.

The worst affected country remains Italy, with 18,849 deaths so far, according to the tally kept by the US-based university. The US is now the second worst-affected country, with 17,925 deaths. Spain is third, with 15,970 deaths.

The tracking platform also revealed that more than 1.6million confirmed cases have been reported from 177 countries in the world, while nearly 370,000 people have recovered from the virus.

The figure which was released by Johns Hopkins University said there are nearly 1.7 million cases with more than 370,000 recoveries.
