Chelsea nightmare now Over -- Aubameyang's Father

Former Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has finally found his smile again, according to his father, Pierre-Francois Aubameyang.

The 34-year-old Gabonese footballer endured a tumultuous period both in Spain and West London, facing personal challenges and a difficult stint with Chelsea. However, his recent move to Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille (OM) has sparked hope for a fresh start.

Aubameyang’s woes began last year when he fell victim to a harrowing robbery at his home in Barcelona, where he valiantly tried to protect his wife and children. The attackers left him with a broken jaw, posing a severe setback to his career and personal well-being.

Subsequently, Aubameyang joined Chelsea in the summer, eager to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.

However, the departure of former manager Thomas Tuchel left him facing an uncertain future. Under new management, he found himself slipping down the pecking order, struggling to secure regular game time under the guidance of Graham Potter.

To compound his challenges, Aubameyang was forced to play with a protective mask during the initial phase of his Chelsea tenure, further hindering his performance on the field. His time in West London proved to be a trying ordeal as he battled against adversities on multiple fronts.

Speaking to L’Équipe, Pierre-Francois Aubameyang described his son’s year as a “nightmare” characterized by physical and emotional hardships. However, the tide has now turned for the better, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has sealed a move to Marseille, marking a new chapter in his professional career.

“His jaw was broken by robbers at his home in Barcelona while trying to protect his wife and children,” he told L’Équipe “At Chelsea, he played with a mask at the start. It could only be a nightmare year.

“Now it’s over. He has a smile. He knows that I’m seeing the light again because I can walk and run since my last operation. And he’s signing for OM,” he said.

OM, known for its passionate fanbase and competitive spirit, presents a promising environment for the veteran striker to rediscover his form and joy for the game.

The French club’s signing of Aubameyang has been met with excitement from supporters, who hope to witness his flair and goal-scoring prowess grace the Stade Vélodrome.

Pierre-Francois Aubameyang expressed relief at witnessing his son’s contagious smile once more. The joy is not limited to Pierre-Emerick alone, as his father has recently undergone a successful operation, enabling him to walk and run again.

With the trials of the past behind him, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks forward to making a significant impact at OM. The club’s fans eagerly await his arrival, believing that his experience and skillset will bolster their offensive firepower.

The football world awaits Aubameyang’s official debut in Marseille colors to showcase his talents at the highest level despite enduring a challenging year.
